Basketball Recap: Hatton Takes a Loss

Hatton lost against Decatur Heritage Christian Academy back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hatton Hornets were outmatched by the Decatur Heritage Christian Academy Eagles and fell 72-28. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while the Eagles are ranked 46th).

Decatur Heritage Christian Academy was led to victory by Leslie Hames and Genie Mcghee. Hames shot 4-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds, while Mcghee went 9 for 14 en route to 19 points in addition to eight boards and seven steals. Mcghee is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 40 games she's played dating back to last season. Emma Eastman was another key player, putting up nine points.

Hatton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season. As for Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-7.

Hatton will head out on the road to face off against Colbert County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Colbert County has three straight victories, Hatton has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court. As for Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, they will welcome Tanner at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Decatur Heritage Christian Academy's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Tanner has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
