Baseball Recap: Checotah's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Checotah fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Muskogee on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Roughers. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Cale Thompson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Checotah is 4-2 when Thompson posts two or more runs, but 8-15 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Ferguson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Checotah's loss dropped their record down to 12-17. As for Muskogee, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-19.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Checotah will face off against Poteau at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Muskogee, they will challenge Collinsville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Roughers will need to watch out since the Cardinals have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
