Softball Recap: Oxford Prep Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Oxford Prep suffered their biggest loss since May 10, 2024 on Friday. They lost 11-2 to the Roxboro Community Bulldogs. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Griffins' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

Marleigh Swanner and Hailey Crowder did some serious damage despite the final result: Swanner scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Crowder went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Oxford Prep's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2. As for Roxboro Community, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Oxford Prep will look to defend their home field on Monday against Warren County at 5:00 p.m. The Eagles will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Griffins surely won't give up without a fight. As for Roxboro Community, they will take on Person at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rockets have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
