Basketball Game Preview: Willard Crimson Flashes vs. Margaretta Polar Bears

Willard is 2-8 against Margaretta since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Willard Crimson Flashes will challenge the Margaretta Polar Bears at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Willard's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.

Last Tuesday, Willard made easy work of Huron and carried off a 56-31 win. The Crimson Flashes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Margaretta's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They came up short against Bellevue, falling 57-32. While losing is never fun, the Polar Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Redmen are ranked fourth).

Willard has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.4 points per game. As for Margaretta, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-5.

Willard came up short against Margaretta when the teams last played back in January, falling 36-30. Can Willard avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
