Recap: Boone Braves vs. Lake Brantley Patriots
The Boone Braves lost against the Lake Brantley Patriots last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Boone took a 51-35 bruising from Lake Brantley. Boone has not had much luck with Lake Brantley recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Boone lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cheo James. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. James has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Erik Boyer, who scored two points along with two steals.
Princeton Gordon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lake Brantley, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Haluszka, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Boone's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Lake Brantley, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-5.
Boone's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lake Howell at 5:00 p.m. on January 26th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Lake Howell is ranked 120th, while Boone is ranked 102nd). As for Lake Brantley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Central Florida Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Central Florida Christian Academy is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
