Softball Recap: Hubbard Jaguars vs. Mart Panthers
Hubbard extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 1-7-1. They lost 20-0 to the Mart Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 on Tuesday.
As for Mart, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3-1. Considering they have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
For Mart's part, Izzy Vega was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Vega a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Hall, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hubbard will venture away from home to challenge Dawson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.15 runs per game on average), something the Jaguars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mart, they will head out to take on Axtell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Longhorns' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
