Softball Recap: Sterling Heights Stevenson Titans vs. Fraser Ramblers
Sterling Heights Stevenson extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 23 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-19 in the process. They came up short against the Fraser Ramblers, falling 13-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Ramblers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-3 back in April.
As for Fraser, their record is now 14-8. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
For Fraser's part, Camilla Dawood tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Dawood has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Peyton Mckernan and Irelyn Bednarchik did most of the damage at the plate: Mckernan went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Bednarchik went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs Bednarchik has posted since back in April. Gabrielle Gajewski was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sterling Heights Stevenson will face off against Utica at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fraser, they will challenge Armada at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
