Basketball Game Preview: Fort Yukon Eagles vs. Tri-Valley Warriors

Fort Yukon and Tri-Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Fort Yukon Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Tri-Valley Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Fort Yukon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.

Fort Yukon is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Walter Northway just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 54-51.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Nellie Ward, who posted 17 points. The contest was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jane Ward, who put up 16 points.

Meanwhile, Tri-Valley put another one in the bag back in December of 2024 to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Nanwalek 55-21.

Tri-Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.0 points per game. As for Fort Yukon, their loss ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2.

Fort Yukon beat Tri-Valley 60-51 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will Fort Yukon repeat their success, or does Tri-Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
