Soccer Game Preview: Garinger vs. North Mecklenburg

The Garinger Wildcats will square off against the North Mecklenburg Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

Garinger made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Ashbrook, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wildcats never let the Greenwave get on the board and left with a 5-0 win on Wednesday. Considering Garinger have won six contests by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Ashbrook with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Eylin Granados Mejia (3), Mylie Mendoza, and Jessica Pastrana.

Meanwhile, North Mecklenburg earned a 4-2 victory over West Charlotte on Thursday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for North Mecklenburg's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

North Mecklenburg's win bumped their record up to 3-10-1. As for Garinger, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7-1.
