Soccer Game Preview: Norton Science & Language Academy vs. Academy for Academic Excellence

The Norton Science & Language Academy Rockets will square off against the Academy for Academic Excellence Knights at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Academy for Academic Excellence is hoping to do what United Christian Academy couldn't on Thursday: put an end to Norton Science & Language Academy's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Norton Science & Language Academy's defense stepped up to hand United Christian Academy a 5-0 shutout. It was an even better day for Jason Rodriguez as he scored three goals for his team.

Something new happened on Thursday as Hageo Figueroa saw his first action of the season, playing 50 minutes against United Christian Academy. Figueroa made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Academy for Academic Excellence). They walked away with a 6-4 win over Redlands Adventist Academy on Tuesday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Knights with their most commanding win of the season.

The victory got Academy for Academic Excellence back to even at 3-3. As for Norton Science & Language Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-0-1.
