Basketball Game Preview: Genoa-Hugo/Karval Pirates vs. Miami-Yoder Buffaloes

The Genoa-Hugo/Karval Pirates will challenge the Miami-Yoder Buffaloes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Genoa-Hugo/Karval is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

On Saturday, Genoa-Hugo/Karval came up short against Kiowa and fell 51-44. While the Pirates didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Indians 14-10 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Genoa-Hugo/Karval saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ryker Lockhart posted 19 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Lockhart's afternoon made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Gabe Carr, who earned four points and six boards.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 56 points the game before, Miami-Yoder was a bit more limited in their game on Saturday. They were outmatched by Hanover and fell 62-29.

Genoa-Hugo/Karval's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Miami-Yoder, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
