Sandy Creek suffers 11th straight loss on the road

Recap: Sandy Creek Cougars vs. Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines
The Sandy Creek Cougars lost against the Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Sandy Creek took a 37-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wilber-Clatonia. Sandy Creek has struggled against Wilber-Clatonia recently, as their matchup on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Emma Fisher and Ryleigh Skalka certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Fisher scored 11 points along with three steals, while Skalka scored ten points. The contest was Skalka's third in a row with at least ten points.
Sandy Creek bumped their record down to 1-5 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Wilber-Clatonia, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sandy Creek will be home for the holidays to greet Doniphan-Trumbull at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Doniphan-Trumbull focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Friday. Wilber-Clatonia won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Fillmore Central at 3:30 p.m. on December 16th. Fillmore Central is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
