Basketball Game Preview: Logan Longhorns vs. Springer Red Devils

Logan is 8-2 against Springer since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Logan Longhorns will head out to face off against the Springer Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. Logan will be strutting in after a win while Springer will be coming in after a loss.

Logan is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Grady: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Logan blew Grady out of the water with a 67-30 final score. The Longhorns have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 20 points or more this season.

Desta Rose was her usual excellent self, going 11-for-20 to rack up 27 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, she now owns an excellent 45.4% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Marilyn Moreno, who posted five points and five steals.

Springer has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 60-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Des Moines on Tuesday.

Logan is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.2 points over those games. Springer's defeat dropped their record down to 16-8.

Everything came up roses for Logan against Springer in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 62-32 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Logan since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
