Baseball Recap: Baxter Springs Takes a Loss

Baxter Springs came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Independence Bulldogs, falling 11-1. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.

Baxter Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Independence, the win keeps they at an undefeated 7-0.

Looking ahead, Baxter Springs will square off against St. Mary's-Colgan at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.13 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Independence, they will face off against Field Kindley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Tornado have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
