Softball Recap: Cane Bay Wins Going Away Against Stratford

Cane Bay won the last time they faced Stratford and things went their way on Friday too. The Cobras blew past the Knights 10-1. The game was the first time the Cobras have beaten the Knights on their field since April 4, 2022.

Isabella Kelly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Emma Tychek was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Dargan, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cane Bay kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matches.

Cane Bay has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Stratford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11-1 record this season.

Coincidentally, Cane Bay and Stratford will both be playing Berkeley the next time they take the field. The Cobras will head out to face the Stags at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Knights will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
