Baseball Recap: Yorktown Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Yorktown came into Tuesday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past the New Castle Trojans 7-0 on Tuesday. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Trojans, too.

Yorktown got a great performance from Palmer Jones as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Jones also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Tigers are 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-6 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aiden Witt, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Reid Turner was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Yorktown's record is now 6-7. As for New Castle, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-10.

Yorktown will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Trojans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
