Baseball Recap: Orange Comes Up Short

After flying high against Chatham Central last Friday, Orange came back down to earth. The Panthers took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southern Alamance Patriots on Tuesday. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Ryan Sawyer was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

Orange's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Southern Alamance, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-2.

While Orange had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
