Madison never got on the board in their matchup last Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Avery County on Friday. They were the clear victor by an 11-0 margin over the Avery County Vikings. The matchup marked the Patriots' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Zane Buckner made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That run marked the first that he scored this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dallas Bartlett, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Caden Lounsbury was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

Madison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Avery County only posted an OBP of .188.

Madison is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. Avery County's defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison will welcome Mountain Heritage at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Avery County, they will be playing at home against Draughn at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
