Baseball Recap: McLane Comes Up Short

McLane made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Hoover, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Highlanders fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 3-1 on Friday. The Highlanders have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Eddie Jimenez spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on eight hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, McLane saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Corona, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

McLane's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Hoover, they pushed their record up to 15-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. McLane will take on rival Torres at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Hoover is set to square off against their familiar foe Sunnyside at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
