The Pike Road Patriots are on the road again on Friday and play against the Saraland Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Pike Road extended their postseason success on Friday against Benjamin Russell. They had just enough and edged the Wildcats out 31-28. 31 seems to be a good number for Pike Road as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Pike Road's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mike Jones, who rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns. Pike Road also got a significant boost from Adrian Thornton, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 98 yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Pike Road's defense and their eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Mac Ceman and Braylon Outlaw who racked up five sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Saraland put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 31-21 win over Hillcrest.
Among those leading the charge was Santae McWilliams Jr., who rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Williams, who picked up 92 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 11-2.
