Basketball Recap: Chisum's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Chisum had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the Prairiland Patriots on Friday as the Chisum Mustangs made off with a 58-37 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Mustangs have posted since December 6, 2024.

Chisum got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ashlyn Hutchison out in front who went 5 for 11 on her way to 13 points and four blocks. That's the most points Hutchison has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadriene Snell, who made all 5 shots she took to post 10 points and eight rebounds.

Chisum's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 7-16. As for Prairiland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Lone Oak the next time they take the court. Prairiland will head out to face Lone Oak at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Chisum will host them at 6:30 p.m. on January 10th.
