Baseball Game Preview: Bridgeport Indians vs. Berkeley Springs Indians

Bridgeport will take on Berkeley Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Bridgeport is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: University, who was ranked 19th at the time (Bridgeport was ranked seventh). The Indians skirted past the Hawks 7-6. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Berkeley Springs). They had just enough and edged out Grace Academy 13-11. The high-scoring effort was just what the Indians needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

The team relied heavily on Jaxon McClintock, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Conner Maconaughey was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Berkeley Springs' win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-26. As for Bridgeport, their victory bumped their record up to 18-8.

Bridgeport took their win against Berkeley Springs in their previous meeting back in April of 2017 by a conclusive 12-3 score. Will Bridgeport repeat their success, or does Berkeley Springs has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
