Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Skyline). Everything went their way against the Carter Cowboys on Thursday as the Skyline Raiders made off with a 22-1 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Raiders as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Jonathan Menefee made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Menefee was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Skyline got a massive performance out of Nate Saldivar, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Juan Herrera Jr, who scored four runs while going 4-for-5.
Skyline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .651. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Skyline's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Carter, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Coming up, Skyline will challenge Spruce at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Carter, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 18-2 loss against Adams on the 27th.
