Baseball Game Preview: Yucca Valley Trojans vs. Coachella Valley Mighty Arabs

Yucca Valley hasn't had much luck against Coachella Valley recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Trojans will take on the Mighty Arabs at 3:30 p.m. Yucca Valley has given up an average of 11.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Yucca Valley is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They lost 19-7 to Indio.

Meanwhile, Coachella Valley beat Twentynine Palms 6-2 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Mighty Arabs in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.

Rey Figueroa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Daniel Ceja, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jesus Rivera, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Coachella Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Twentynine Palms only posted a batting average of .222.

Yucca Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Coachella Valley, their record is now 6-8.

Yucca Valley suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Coachella Valley in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
