Volleyball Recap: Waldron Falls Despite Big Games from Lauren Strehle and Averi Sheele

Waldron was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Oldenburg Academy Twisters. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Twisters this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 last Saturday.

While Waldron ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-20, 25-17.

Waldron's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Averi Sheele, who had nine digs and three aces, and Lauren Strehle, who had nine digs and nine assists.

Lillian Vanderpohl was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had 14 digs and two aces.

Waldron's loss dropped their record down to 7-19. As for Oldenburg Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

Waldron will be taking part in a tournament against Triton Central at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Oldenburg Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Rushville on the 9th.
