Volleyball Recap: Carondelet Comes Up Short

Carondelet was the 2-0 winner over Pleasant Valley when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cougars fell 2-0 to the Vikings on Saturday. Considering the last time the Cougars couldn't score was back in September, the team can't take the result too hard.

The 2-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-23.

Ava Van Peteghem paced Carondelet's offense, picking up ten kills. Van Peteghem got some help from Isabella Vertudez and her ten assists. Vertudez was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Audrey Ferro was the offensive standout of the match as she had seven digs and one block. That's the most digs she has posted over her last eight contests.

Carondelet's loss dropped their record down to 20-9. As for Pleasant Valley, they pushed their record up to 20-12 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Carondelet has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Woodcreek on the 18th. As for Pleasant Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 win against American Canyon on the 18th.
