Baseball Recap: Riverdale Comes Up Short

Riverdale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against the Highland Cardinals, falling 14-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Chieftains have suffered since April 22nd.

Bevyn Dennis and Chase Chitwood stepped up to the plate in a big way. Dennis went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run, while Chitwood went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Riverdale's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Highland, they pushed their record up to 6-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Riverdale will square off against Mineral Point at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pointers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Chieftains surely won't give up without a fight. Highland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
