Basketball Game Preview: Maloney Spartans vs. Platt Panthers

The Maloney Spartans will face off against the Platt Panthers at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Maloney sitting on four straight wins and Platt on five.

Maloney is headed into the match having just posted their closest victory since February 8, 2024 on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-51 win over Middletown.

Meanwhile, Platt strolled past Plainville with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 81-62. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Blue Devils are ranked 99th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Platt pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.3 points over those games. As for Maloney, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
