Basketball Recap: Las Plumas Takes a Loss

Las Plumas won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Saturday. They came up short against the Marysville Indians, falling 69-48. The game marked the Thunderbirds' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Las Plumas lost, don't look at Jayden Webb. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 12 on his way to 21 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of T.J. Thompson, who posted ten points.

Marysville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dennis Syders out in front who went 6 of 8 on his way to 14 points in addition to eight assists and three steals. Syders has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Chevy Cadena, who put up 13 points and three steals.

Las Plumas' defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Marysville, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.

Las Plumas will venture away from home to take on Red Bluff at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marysville, they will host East Nicolaus at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Marysville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully East Nicolaus likes a good challenge.
