Softball Recap: Breckenridge Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hawley, Breckenridge was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Staples-Motley Cardinals by a score of 7-2. The Cowboys have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cardinals, too.

Marley Mumm spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Jaelie Ernst was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Skylie Pulskamp, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The win got Breckenridge back to even at 4-4. As for Staples-Motley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Breckenridge beat Staples-Motley by a score of 8-0 later that day.
