Baseball Recap: Russell Comes Up Short

If Russell was riding high fresh off their 15-7 takedown of Cimarron on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Broncos fell just short of the Bluejays by a score of 7-6 on Friday. The Broncos were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bluejays earlier this season, when they won 15-7.

Sam Thielen was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Rohr, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Russell's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Cimarron, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Russell will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ellsworth at 4:00 p.m. on the 8th. As for Cimarron, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 10-1 win against Minneola on the 1st.
