Football Recap: Birmingham Starts Season with Victory Against Hart + How To Watch

Birmingham gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Hart Hawks by a score of 24-14. This was payback for the Patriots, who suffered a 35-9 defeat the last time these two teams met.

A big part of Birmingham's win came down to the chemistry between Kevin Hawkins and his top target Jimmy Renteria. Hawkins rushed for 130 yards and one score on only six carries while Renteria gained 126 total yards. Those 130 rushing yards gave Hawkins a new career-high.

Birmingham was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 229 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hart only rushed for 77 rushing yards.

Despite the loss, Hart had strong showings from Matix Frithsmith, who gained 254 total yards, and Jacob Paisano, who threw for 250 yards and one TD. Frithsmith was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 50 yards.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Birmingham will face off against St. Bonaventure at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hart, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Burroughs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
