Baseball Recap: Lakeview Takes a Loss

If Lakeview was riding high fresh off their 13-2 takedown of McKinley last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs came up short against the Austintown-Fitch Falcons on Monday, falling 16-6. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Carter Doran and Brandon Toot did some serious damage despite the final result: Doran got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one double, while Toot went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. Eli Gough was another key player, earning two RBI and one run.

Lakeview's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Austintown-Fitch, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeview will head out to take on Cardinal Mooney at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Austintown-Fitch, they will venture away from home to square off against Howland at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
