Baseball Recap: Higley's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Higley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Campo Verde Coyotes 4-3. The game was the first time the Knights have beaten the Coyotes on their field since March 31, 2021.

Bryce Russo tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cam Jantz, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Gio Liburdi also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Higley's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-8. As for Campo Verde, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Higley will take on Highland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Campo Verde, they will square off against Canyon View at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Jaguars will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Coyotes surely won't give up without a fight.
