Softball Recap: Farmville Central Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Farmville Central walked away with it. They won by a run and slipped past the Bunn Wildcats 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Jaguars sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Corri Houston spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Farmville Central saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Callie Mitchell, who went 3-for-4 with one run. That's the most hits Mitchell has posted since back in April.

Farmville Central's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Bunn, their loss dropped their record down to 17-5.

Coming up, Farmville Central will face off against South Granville on Tuesday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Jaguars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Bunn does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
