Volleyball Recap: Northtown Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

The Northtown Pumas had just enough and edged out the Chicago Academy Cougars 2-1 on Thursday.

Northtown had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-19, 25-19.

Josue Gomez paced Northtown's offense, picking up eight kills. Gomez got some help from Peter Khem and his 12 assists. Finally, David Awe kept Northtown's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Northtown's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. As for Chicago Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Northtown will welcome Cristo Rey Jesuit at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chicago Academy, they will head out to square off against Prosser at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
