Basketball Game Preview: Fairfield Falcons vs. Foothill Mustangs

The Fairfield Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Foothill Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Foothill is hoping to do what Northgate couldn't on Friday: put an end to Fairfield's winning streak, which now stands at five games. Fairfield came out on top against Northgate by a score of 68-60. The score was all tied up 30-30 at the break, but the Falcons were the better team in the second half.

Johnnie Jones was his usual excellent self, going 12 for 13 on his way to 26 points and eight rebounds. The game was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amarre Davis, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Foothill got the win against Armijo on Monday by a conclusive 75-53. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 435th, while the Royals are ranked 1173rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Foothill has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points per game. As for Fairfield, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Everything went Fairfield's way against Foothill in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, as Fairfield made off with a 72-50 victory. Will Fairfield repeat their success, or does Foothill have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
