Fairport and Rush-Henrietta are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2021, but not for long. The Fairport Red Raiders will face off against the Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Fairport's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Fairport is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They slipped by Aquinas Institute 71-70. Given the Red Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Little Irish are ranked 159th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Rush-Henrietta earned a 65-57 win over McQuaid Jesuit on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Royal Comets.

Fairport better focus on containing Avery Council and Jalen Taggart as the pair were huge in Rush-Henrietta's win. Council shot 54% from the field on his way to 21 points, while Taggart went 9-for-19 en route to 26 points. Taggart's big performance that evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Amir Abdul-Haqq was another key player, putting up seven points and seven boards.

Fairport is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.9 points over those games. Rush-Henrietta's record now sits at 19-2.

Fairport couldn't quite finish off Rush-Henrietta in their previous meeting back in February and fell 85-82. Can Fairport avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
