Football Recap: Fountain-Fort Carson Skates Past Overland with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fountain-Fort Carson). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 48-7 victory over the Overland Trailblazers. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Trailblazers are ranked 105th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Fountain-Fort Carson to victory were Da'Kari Releford Jr and Jaylen Martin. Releford Jr rushed for 136 yards and three TDs on only seven carries, while Martin rushed for 80 yards and one score. Martin's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Patrick Gonzales was in the mix too, providing Fountain-Fort Carson with one touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Fountain-Fort Carson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 233 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 153 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Fountain-Fort Carson's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-1. As for Overland, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fountain-Fort Carson will host Lakewood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Overland, they will challenge Arvada West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trailblazers will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
