Shaker came out on top against Bethlehem Central on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Bison walked away with a 7-4 win over the Eagles. The Bison have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Shaker got a great performance from Daniel Cioffi as he struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tye Mariano, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Tom Case was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Shaker and bumps their season record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake and 3-9 Bethlehem Central. As for Bethlehem Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Shaker is set to take on their familiar foe Colonie Central at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Bison have won four straight at home, while the Wolfpack won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Meanwhile, Bethlehem Central will square off against rival Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
