Volleyball Recap: Dixon Takes a Loss

Dixon extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 18-7. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sterling Golden Warriors. The Dukes & Duchesses were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Golden Warriors earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

Morgan Hargrave paced Dixon's offense, picking up 13 kills. Hargrave got some help from Presley Lappin and her 17 assists. Finally, Izzy Queckboerner kept Dixon's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

As for Sterling, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted against Dixon since August 23, 2022.

Sterling was led to victory by Maddison Birdsley and Grace Springman. Birdsley had eight assists and six digs, while Springman had five digs and two aces. Those six digs gave Birdsley a new career-high.

Dixon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Oak Forest on the 11th. As for Sterling, they have also already played their next match, a 2-1 win against East Moline United on the 14th.
