Softball Preview: Pasco Pirates vs. Mitchell Mustangs
Pasco is 0-9 against Mitchell since April of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Pirates are taking a road trip to square off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pasco has three straight victories, Mitchell has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Pasco gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Wesley Chapel.

Abigail Grubbs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Pasco's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Montelongo, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Shalyn Carter also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Mitchell's offense. They came up short against Calvary Christian on Tuesday, falling 8-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Mustangs were not able to get on the board.
Mitchell's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Pasco, their record now sits at 6-9.
Pasco couldn't quite get it done against Mitchell when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
