Mount Vernon waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Arlington Eagles a 1-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mount Vernon pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Arlington, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Mount Vernon and Arlington will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Bulldogs see the field they'll take on Lakewood at 4:00 p.m. on the 15th. As for Arlington, their break will end when they face Lake Stevens at 4:30 p.m. on the 14th.
