Baseball Recap: Bloom Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Bloom had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Rich Township Raptors, sneaking past 11-9. That's two games straight that the Blazing Trojan have won by exactly two runs.

Trevion Franklin and Kamari Dawkins were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Franklin pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. Meanwhile, Dawkins pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bloom is 2-1 when Dawkins allows one or fewer hits, but 2-6 otherwise. At the plate, Franklin scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Dawkins scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Dawkins is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Talen Taverne, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Maldanado, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Bloom always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rich Township only posted an OBP of .343.

Bloom's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Rich Township, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Coming up, Bloom will take on Crete-Monee at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Rich Township, they will challenge Ogden International at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Ogden International's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Rich Township's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
