Basketball Recap: Wiggins Comes Up Short

Wiggins has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They had to suffer through a 48-19 loss at the hands of the Merino Rams. The matchup marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Tenleigh Lorenzini and Kellie Vicchrilli certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Lorenzini posted five points and five blocks, while Vicchrilli put up five points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Lorenzini a new career-high in blocks.

Wiggins' loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Merino, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Wiggins will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Strasburg at 5:30 p.m. As for Merino, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Peetz at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Merino's defense has only allowed 22.3 points per game this season, so Peetz's offense will have their work cut out for them.
