Softball Game Preview: Harbor Teacher Monarchs vs. Fremont Pathfinders

Harbor Teacher has gone a perfect 10-0 against Fremont recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Monarchs will host the Pathfinders at 2:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Fremont is facing Harbor Teacher at the wrong time: Harbor Teacher suffered their first home loss of the season on Thursday and they're likely out for redemption. They lost 8-2 to the Golden Eagles. Monarchs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Golden Eagles since on Thursday.

Lexi Cetina spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on 14 hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Briana Alagba was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Fremont's offense. They came up short against King/Drew on Monday, falling 9-0. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Pathfinders' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Fremont has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Harbor Teacher, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Everything went Harbor Teacher's way against Fremont when the teams last played back in April, as Harbor Teacher made off with a 15-4 win. Do the Monarchs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pathfinders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
