Baseball Game Preview: King Philip Regional Warriors vs. Franklin Panthers

King Philip Regional hasn't had much luck against Franklin recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 3:45 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (King Philip Regional 1.9, Franklin 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Wednesday, King Philip Regional didn't have quite enough to beat Canton and fell 2-1.

Nate Pennini was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits.

On the hitting side, King Philip Regional saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Herlin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Franklin and Mansfield meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Panthers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Hornets a 6-0 shutout.

The win got Franklin back to even at 6-6. As for King Philip Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 12-2.

King Philip Regional skirted past Franklin 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
