Baseball Recap: Wheaton Academy Victorious

While Wheaton Academy's win against St. Edward wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Green Wave on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted against the Green Wave since April 26, 2018.

Carson Miller looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Wheaton Academy: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 6-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Brandon Kiebles and Jackson From did most of the damage at the plate: Kiebles went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while From went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave From a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dom Murrell, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Wheaton Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for St. Edward, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-14.

Wheaton Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Green Wave: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
