Summer Creek has won three straight games at home, while Manvel has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Bulldogs will welcome the Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Summer Creek is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Clear Springs 58-14. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-7.
Tre Brown went supernova, rushing for 86 yards and one score on only five carries, while also picking up 51 receiving yards. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 50 yards. Benny Easter Jr. was another key pass catcher, picking up 119 receiving yards and one TD.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Summer Creek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 241 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 158 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.

Summer Creek didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Marrel Davis, Caleb White, and Anthony Thomas picked up one apiece. White has been hot recently, having also posted at least one defended passe the last three times he's played.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Manvel). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Fort Bend Hightower 70-35. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Mavericks' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 440th).
Manvel's win came from a few key players Summer Creek will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cam Renfro, who threw for 176 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 100 yards on only nine carries. That's the most passing touchdowns he has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kenneth Malone Hayes, who gained 123 total yards and four touchdowns.
Manvel's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Summer Creek, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.
The upcoming game will be a clash of competing strengths. Summer Creek has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 287.6 passing yards per game. Manvel, on the other hand, has relied on a stout run game: they average 249.8 rushing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Thursday? There's only one way to find out.
Everything came up roses for Summer Creek against Manvel in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 49-7 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Mavericks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
