Northview hasn't had much luck against Charter Oak recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Vikings are taking a road trip to square off against the Chargers at 3:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Northview and Covina had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Vikings blew past the Colts 13-7 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Colts: they've now won three in a row.
Clementina Duran was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Duran was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Northview got a massive performance out of Reina Granados, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Bella Ochoa was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Northview hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That's the most strikeouts they've posted since back in February.
Meanwhile, Charter Oak strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Wilson a 21-0 shutout. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Charter Oak also got a great performance from Mibella Huerta as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Huerta has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jazmyn Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Riley Dunne, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Northview's record is now 15-6-1. As for Charter Oak, they pushed their record up to 10-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Northview suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Charter Oak when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
